Ngành truyền thông rất rộng lớn và là một ngành học đa dạng, có tính ứng dụng thực tế cao, gồm các cơ hội nghề nghiệp trong lĩnh vực: truyền thông báo chí, truyền thông thực hành, phương tiện truyền thông (Media) và nghiên cứu về truyền thông. Ngành truyền thông là một trong những ngành có sức ảnh hưởng vô cùng lớn tới sự phát triển của xã hội hiện nay. Ngành Truyền thông, báo chí tại trường Okanagan College - Canada

Cao đẳng Okanagan cung cấp bằng Cử nhân Nghệ thuật Ứng dụng bốn năm, đặt tại cơ sở Kelowna với các khóa học giới hạn tại các cơ sở Salmon Arm, Vernon và Penticton. Bằng tú tài này cung cấp cho sinh viên tốt nghiệp các kỹ năng có thể tuyển dụng trong nghiên cứu ứng dụng và hiểu biết về cách thức các ngành khoa học xã hội và nghệ thuật tự do đóng góp tích cực vào một xã hội bền vững đa dạng về văn hóa. Được phát triển cho bối cảnh của vùng nội địa phía nam BC, chương trình này bao gồm các nghiên cứu về văn hóa bản địa trong khu vực và chuẩn bị cho sinh viên tốt nghiệp có những đóng góp trực tiếp cho các vấn đề địa phương và khu vực. Thông qua học tập theo ngữ cảnh, mục tiêu của mức độ là cung cấp các kỹ năng nghiên cứu ứng dụng trong bối cảnh nghiên cứu nghệ thuật tự do và khoa học xã hội ứng dụng, nhấn mạnh định hướng thực nghiệm để hiểu, ứng dụng kiến thức và can thiệp. Được đặc trưng bởi những điểm mạnh của bằng cấp cuối cùng tạo ra các kỹ năng có thể tuyển dụng, bằng cấp này cũng có thể chuẩn bị cho sinh viên nhập học vào các chương trình nghiên cứu sau đại học có chọn lọc. Tất cả sinh viên tốt nghiệp của chương trình cấp bằng ứng dụng này sẽ sẵn sàng cho thị trường việc làm ngày nay thông qua việc thành thạo các kỹ năng và kỹ thuật phân tích bậc cao cho nghiên cứu ứng dụng. Kinh nghiệm thực tế liên quan đến lĩnh vực là một thành phần trung tâm của giáo dục cấp bằng ứng dụng.

Sau khi Tốt nghiệp sinh viên có thể làm các lĩnh vực:

• Quản trị viên chương trình
• Nhà quản lý và nhà phân tích trong các cơ quan dịch vụ xã hội
• Tổ chức phi lợi nhuận
• Nhóm cộng đồng và các cấp chính quyền khác nhau

Trọng tâm nghiên cứu cộng đồng của bằng Cử nhân Nghệ thuật Ứng dụng cung cấp cho sinh viên các lộ trình để làm công việc dịch vụ xã hội ứng dụng hoặc tiềm năng chuyển tiếp lên các nghiên cứu sau đại học tại UBC Okanagan. Sinh viên sẽ được cấp bằng Cử nhân Nghệ thuật Ứng dụng: Nghiên cứu và Đánh giá Cộng đồng (ABA-CRE) sau khi hoàn thành.
